The performance was carried out by a group of students from the You Love Dance Academy, in the outer enclosure of the Sanctuary, next to the Hotel do Elevador.

World Dance Day is celebrated on the 29th of April and was instituted by the UNESCO International Dance Festival in 1982.

The Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte, aware of the responsibility of being the manager of a site UNESCO World Heritage Site, decided to join an Academy that develops the art of dance, with a youthful audience.

In the words of Canon Mário Martins, President of the Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte, “it is important to give visibility to these forms of art and culture, on a stage as special as the
Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary. Since the beauty of dance is a manifestation of the divine, particularly in a sacred space like the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, this moment constituted an important opportunity to sensitize the community for the promotion of this art.”
