The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, in Braga, will host, on February 11, the public presentation of the project “Bom Jesus: Requalificar III”, considered a landmark initiative, capable of strengthening the legibility of the site and its contemporary enjoyment, without compromising the authenticity and symbolic value that define it. The session will take place at Hotel do Parque, starting at 10:00 a.m., with the participation of various institutional entities, highlighting the cultural, heritage, and territorial relevance of this intervention.

According to the Confraria do Bom Jesus, the opening session will be chaired by the president of the Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte, Canon Mário Martins, and will include remarks by the president of Braga City Council, João Rodrigues; the president of the Comissão de Coordenação da Região Norte (CCDR-N); and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Braga, D. José Cordeiro.

For those responsible for Bom Jesus, this is a strategic intervention that consolidates the overall requalification of this complex, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, deepening the understanding of its historical, religious, and cultural dimensions, and decisively enhancing the visitor experience.

In a statement sent to Diário do Minho, the Confraria do Bom Jesus notes that, among the central elements of this intervention, particular emphasis is placed on the Interpretive Center, the Jardim de Camilo, and the stops of the Elevador do Bom Jesus, a unique structure that represents not only a landmark of engineering and technical innovation, but also an essential axis of accessibility, interpretation, and connection between the different levels of the sanctuary.

“Its enhancement and integration into the project reinforce the role of the elevador as an identity-defining component of Bom Jesus, facilitating universal access and promoting a more inclusive, informed, and enriched visitor experience,” the organizers specify.
