Statue and Fountain of S. Lucas

S. Lucas

Statue and Fountain

And on the way to the right of this chapel, we find the statue of the Evangelist S. Lucas, holding in his left hand a book, and next to him a representation of a bull sitting at the evangelist’s feet.

At St. Lucas fountain, water comes out of a bull’s mouth. Under the statue, the legend in Latin: «FUIT IN DIEBUS HERODIS, REGIS JUDAEAE, PRIESTS QUIDÁ NOMINE ZACHARIAS», can be translated as: «In the days of Herodes king of Judea there was a priest named Zecarias. ».
