Wife of the Song

Wife of the Song

Climbing nine steps to the right we find a figure of a woman with a high countenance and adorned with feathers on the head, holding a lyre, bearing in the box the sign: «SONET VOX TUA IN AURIBUS MEIS», translated by: «your voice sounds to the my ears».

It is the bride of the «Song of Songs» playing a lyre, deftly wounding the musical strings of the concave instrument of Zither. This seems to refer to the Church, taking into account the beauty, smoothness and harmony that is observed in her. Thus Christ proceeds with the Church, for in her eyes she is glorious, without blemish or wrinkle, without anything like it, but holy and without blemish.
