The proposal to expand the classification of the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary was published in Diário da República, in order to integrate the lands of the Confraternity of Bom Jesus do Monte, including the Bom Jesus do Monte Elevator on the Monte do Bom Jesus, Union of Parishes of Nogueiró and Tenões.

The document of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, published on June 21, is subject to prior hearing.

The Sanctuary has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1970.
