Less than a week after the application of the São João de Braga Festivities to Intangible Cultural Heritage, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa had planned to spend the day in the city, beginning by visiting the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte.
The head of state arrived yesterday at the sanctuary on the funicular, and was applauded by people who were in the panoramic courtyards of Bom Jesus.
Between selfies, kisses and hugs, Marcelo saw his questions regarding the application of the sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte to UNESCO World Heritage. Inside the temple, he prayed, appreciated details to be addressed and, in the sacristy, signed the book of honor… all of this before the slight indisposition when leaving the sanctuary.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa promised to return to Braga in 2019, to fulfill his dream of being in S.João de Braga.
After being discharged from the Hospital of Braga, where he was hospitalized for a few hours, following a break in tension resulting from gastroenteritis, already well disposed, the Head of State regretted the cancellation of his participation in the parties, but guaranteed, right away, his presence in sanjoaninas of Braga next year.
