November 2025
Still marking Dia da Floresta Autóctone (23 November), the Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte, in partnership with the Câmara Municipal de Braga, the Bombeiros Voluntários de Braga and the Junta da União de Freguesias de Lomar e Arcos, organized on 28 November another tree-planting initiative on the land known as “Bouça do Souto” (at the Santuário do Bom Jesus do Monte) — a woodland area that has been undergoing reforestation since 2022 and which constitutes an important fire-containment buffer zone.
The protagonists were 50 students and teachers from EB1 de Arcos and employees of Fujitsu (one of the world’s largest technology companies, operating in Portugal for almost five decades).
A total of 200 native tree specimens were planted (sobreiros, carvalhos, abrunheiros, among others).
With this initiative, the Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte once again reinforces its commitment to sustainability and to the care of the common home, as emphasized by the late Pope Francis in the 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’.
