Confraria do Bom Jesus offers guided tours in the Sanctuary

The visits, in several languages, will be guided by local guides of the Sanctuary.

The Confraria do Bom Jesus will provide, starting tomorrow, June 1, a guided tours service through five distinct routes that cover the religious, natural and cultural components of the space declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 2019.

According to the president of the Confraria, Canon Mário Martins, this way “it is intended to enhance the discovery and knowledge of the religious, cultural and natural heritage of Bom Jesus, through a new perspective of welcoming pilgrims and tourists who visit the Sanctuary, either in terms of a more complete touristic offer, or of an evangelizing proposal to which the very nature of the various spaces invites ».

The visits will be guided by local guides of the Sanctuary who will guide the visitors through five routes that contemplate the cultural, religious and natural heritage of Bom Jesus .: the “Bom Jesus Essencials” (which includes the interior and exterior of the Basilica, the bell tower and Coro Alto, the churchyard, Largo do Pelicano, S. Longuinhos, the elevator, the chapel of Descent from the Cross and an explanation of the staircase and chapels from S. Longuinhos); the “Bom Jesus Essencial + Centro de Memórias”; the “Basilica”; the “Stairs and Chapels + Essential” and, finally, the “Basilica, Gardens, Lake and Woods”. The duration of each of these routes varies between 30 and 120 minutes, each with a specific associated cost.

It should be noted that schools, universities, IPSS and parish groups will have a 50% discount on the base price.

The visits, available in Portuguese, Spanish, English, French and Italian, start with a welcoming and framing session for the participants, and then continue the visit to the programmed route, guided by a guide responsible for the Brotherhood.
Each session will have a maximum participation of 25 people. It is mandatory to make a prior appointment by calling ‘253 676 636’ or by email ‘geral@bomjesus.pt’, and the route, date, time and number of participants can be chosen.
